What we do

Whole-house general contracting, not a single trade.

If it is inside your house, we can take it on. What follows is the work we do most, not a list of what we are limited to. Where a job needs a specialist we bring in the trade we already use, hold the schedule and the budget, and stay accountable for the result. You get one number to call either way.

01

Additions & whole-home remodels

Footers, framing, mechanicals and finish, run by us start to finish. We pull the permits, schedule the trades and stay on the job until the punch list is empty.

  • Room & second-story additions
  • Load-bearing wall removal
  • Attached garages & breezeways
  • Full gut renovations
02

Kitchens

Cabinets, counters, and the plumbing and electrical rough-in behind them.

6–8 weeks, typical

03

Bathrooms

Tile showers, tubs, vanities, subfloor repair and venting done to code.

04

Roofing, siding & windows

Tear-off and re-roof, gutters, soffit, fascia, wraps and replacement windows.

05

Decks, porches & concrete

Covered porches, decks, driveways, sidewalks, footers and foundation repair.

06

Basements, garages & pole barns

Egress windows, basement finishing, detached garages and post-frame buildings.

07

Demolition

Interior tear-out through to full residential demolition. Disconnects, debris and haul-off handled.

08

Whatever is not on this list

Not seeing your job? Call anyway. Being a general contractor means we scope it, price it, bring the right trade and own the schedule. If it is genuinely not something we should touch, we will say so and point you at someone who should.

How a job runs

Four steps, and you know the price before the second one ends.

  1. 1

    We come look at it

Somebody from our crew walks the job, takes our own measurements and asks what you actually want. No charge, and no one sits in your kitchen for two hours.

  2. 2

    Written scope, fixed price

You get a line-item scope with allowances named in dollars, not adjectives. The number does not move unless you change what is being built.

  3. 3

    One lead runs your job

The same lead carpenter is on site every working day and gives you his cell number. Change orders get written and signed before anybody swings a hammer.

  4. 4

    Punch list, then warranty

We walk the finished job with you and write down every last thing. We fix that list, and we back the workmanship for two years after final payment.

Who you are hiring

One name on the license, the contract and the truck.

Henry County Construction is owner-run and has been for a long time. It is not a franchise, not a lead-generation front, and not a handyman with a magnet on his door.

For the last several years the company has run quietly and taken work by referral. That was deliberate. It is also over. We are open, we are taking on jobs again, and we are doing it under the same name and the same license we always have.

The work runs from a single bathroom to taking a house all the way down. The most recent job was a full residential demolition. If you want to know whether we can handle yours, call and ask. If it is not something we do well, we will tell you that instead of learning on your house.

We are based in New Castle and most of our work is inside Henry County. That is on purpose. It keeps drive time off your invoice and it means we can get back to you quickly if something needs attention after the job is closed.

Just outside the county line? Call and ask. If the job is the right fit we will travel for it.

Before you call

Questions we get every week.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes, for anything inside Henry County. We look at the job, measure it and write it up at no cost. If a job needs an engineer’s stamp or a structural drawing before it can be priced, we will tell you that up front and what it costs.

My job is not on your list. Can you still do it?

Almost certainly. We are a general contractor, not a single trade, so the list on this page is what comes up most often rather than the limit of what we take on. If part of the job needs a specialist we bring in the trade we already work with, price it into your written scope and hold the schedule ourselves. The only time we say no is when a job genuinely should not be ours, and then we will tell you who to call.

Will you take a small job?

We do. A door, a rotted header, a bad section of soffit. Small work is scheduled between larger jobs, so it may sit a couple of weeks, but we would rather do it than send you looking.

Are you licensed, insured and bonded?

All three. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation on every person who sets foot on your property, and we will hand you the certificates before we start rather than after you ask.

Do you pull the permits?

We do, and the permit cost is a line item in your scope. We deal with the county and the local building inspector, and we schedule the inspections. You do not need to make those calls.

How far out are you booked?

Roofing and exteriors usually start within two to three weeks. Additions and gut remodels are typically six to ten weeks out, longer in spring. We give you a start date in writing, not a season.

What happens when you open a wall and find something?

We stop, photograph it and write a change order with a price before we go further. Old houses hide bad splices, rot and undersized framing. Finding it is normal. Charging you for it without telling you first is not.

Do you work with insurance on storm damage?

Yes. We will meet your adjuster at the house, walk the roof with them and provide an itemized estimate in the format carriers expect. We do not offer to cover deductibles, because in Indiana that is illegal.
